New Look, Safety and Tech: 2019 Tucson

Hero Image

The 2019 Tucson’s updated look begins with a new visage featuring the Hyundai’s signature cascading grille, restyled headlamps and daytime running lights.

New wheel designs in 17-inch for Go and Active X, and machine-finished 18- and 19-inch for Elite and Highlander underscore Tucson’s fresh exterior.

Every 2019 Tucson features more standard equipment than the preceding model.

A new floating tablet-style multimedia system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity is standard across the range.

Tucson Go boasts a 7.0-inch OEM display radio and exterior mirror turn signals and, atop the range, 2019 Tucson Highlander gains a heated steering wheel and wireless (Qi) smartphone charging.

Tucson Active X offers an array of additional features, including leather interior trim, an 8-inch sat-nav system with live traffic and lifetime map updates, Infinity Premium Audio, rear park assist and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

Tucson Elite benefits with the addition of Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW) and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning (RCCW) among the extensive suite of safety technology.

2019 Tucson benefits from a new eight-speed automatic transmission, paired with the 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine with all-wheel-drive. The smooth and intuitive eight-speed automatic makes the Tucson more economical as well as building on its excellent performance and refinement.

The turbo-diesel engine is offered in each of the four model grades, along with a 2.0-litre direct injection petrol for Go, Active X and Elite, and a 1.6-litre turbo petrol for Elite and Highlander models.

The introduction of an optional SmartSense™ Safety Pack makes advanced safety accessible to every Tucson owner.

The SmartSense™ pack available for automatic Tucson Go and Active models brings Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW), Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning (RCCW), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) and Driver Attention Warning (DAW) systems among the safety and convenience features.

Just as for every new Australian Hyundai model, excepting the iLoad and iMax, Tucson benefits from a specific Australian suspension and steering calibration honed on our uniquely challenging city and country roads.

“With a crisp new look, greater safety and technology, and a chassis tuned on Australian roads to delivery superb comfort and refinement, 2019 Tucson is an appealing upgrade of Hyundai’s best-selling SUV,” said Scott Grant, Hyundai Motor Company Australia Chief Operating Officer.
